Bright House subcontractor accused of stealing cable

BROOKSVILLE – Deputies arrested a man Friday morning on a theft of services charge after Bright House Networks accused him of obtaining unauthorized cable television.

Jason Norris Samulski, 34, of 9628 Southern Charm Circle in Brooksville, works for Cable Link Services, a subcontractor for Bright House, the leading cable and Internet provider for the Tampa area.

Samulski obtained illegal service by hooking up the cable himself, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.

Bright House has cut the cable service at that location three times — January 2009, July 2010 and again Wednesday, deputies said.

Each time, Samulski reattached the cable, according to an arrest report.

Samulski’s charge is a third-degree felony. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison.
