Joba Chamberlain accident shines light on dangers of trampolines

MYFOXNY.COM – Trampoline injuries are common especially with summer just around the corner. Dr. Darshan Patel at the Children’s Hospital at Westchester Medial Center said doctors treat one to two patients per week.

But what happened to Yankee pitcher Joba Chamberlain is one of the more serious trampoline injuries. Chamberlain’s bone punctured the skin of his right ankle while he was playing with his son.

Taka Andrews, who sells trampolines, said the newer models have more safety features.

Trampoline injuries led to almost 100,000 emergency room visits last year alone, even with safety tips written right on some of the equipment.

The most important advice is use common sense.
